What is Dura-Fix?
Dura-Fix is a professional-grade flexible epoxy wood filler designed to repair, rebuild, and restore damaged wood. Unlike traditional fillers, it remains flexible after curing, allowing it to move naturally with wood as temperatures and humidity change.
What makes Dura-Fix different from traditional wood fillers?
Traditional fillers often become brittle over time, leading to cracks and repair failure. Dura-Fix is engineered to remain flexible while providing excellent structural strength for long-lasting repairs.
What types of repairs can I use Dura-Fix for?
Dura-Fix is suitable for repairing:
- Rotten wood
- Cracks
- Chips
- Gouges
- Window frames
- Doors
- Trim
- Columns
- Decks
- Exterior architectural woodwork
Can I use Dura-Fix indoors and outdoors?
Yes. Dura-Fix is designed for both interior and exterior applications and is formulated to withstand moisture, temperature changes, and seasonal wood movement.
Application
How long does Dura-Fix take to cure?
The curing time depends on temperature and conditions. Most applications can be sanded after approximately 8–12 hours, while full cure is typically achieved within about 24 hours.
Can I sand, drill, or paint Dura-Fix?
Yes. Once cured, Dura-Fix can be:
- Sanded
- Drilled
- Machined
- Painted
- Stained
just like natural wood.
Can I stain DURA-FIX to match natural wood?
Yes. DURA-FIX can be stained in two ways:
- Mix a small amount of universal colorant into the material before application.
- After DURA-FIX has cured, sand the surface and apply a semi-transparent stain, also known as a varnish stain.
Does DURA-FIX shrink or crack?
No. DURA-FIX is designed not to shrink, slump, sag, crack, or crumble. It remains flexible after curing to accommodate the natural movement of wood.
Can it fill large voids?
Yes. One 450ml dual cartridge provides enough material to fill approximately 27 cubic inches, or about a softball-sized void.
Do I need an epoxy consolidant or primer?
No. DURA-FIX does not require an epoxy consolidant or pre-treatment. Remove all decayed and damaged wood until clean, sound wood is exposed before applying DURA-FIX.
